This deployment of fiber into these environments provides a cost-effective solution and allows for the standardization on fiber as a media type. This is especially significant in industrial environments where fiber is immune to electrostatic interference "noise".
Omnitron FlexPoint T1/E1 - Transceiver - fiber optic - external - up to 3.1 mile Omnitron's FlexPoint media converters provide conversion between different cabling types as your wiring needs change. The same unit can be used stand-alone, wall-mounted, rack-mounted, or installed in the power-redundant Powered Chassis. You can mix and match various FlexPoint converters for any size network to deliver reliability and flexibility! The FlexPoint T1/E1 connects T1 and E1 devices, such as PBXs, CSUs and routers, via multimode or single-mode fiber. Designed to extend the standard T1/E1 twisted pair and coax network distances over fiber, this converter provides protection from environmental noise and effectively increases high-speed network reliability. The converter provides support for line codes such as AMI, B8ZS and HDB3. The T1/E1 line codes and line lengths are configured using easy to arrange dip switches located on the FlexPoint T1/E1 media converter. The fiber port operates at 1300 nm and features SC, or ST connectors. Multimode fiber models support distances of up to 5 km, and single-mode fiber models support distances of up to 58 km. A crossover switch on the RJ45/RJ48 port makes it simple to connect the FlexPoint T1/E1 converter to DTE and DCE equipment like PBXs or CSUs and eliminates the need for crossover and custom cables to connect devices together. Diagnostic features include local loop-back, remote loop-back and all 1's insertion (AIS) mode for the copper or fiber segments. The local loop-back mode allows the installer to validate connectivity to local T1/E1 lines, while the remote loop-back feature allows the installer to validate the entire fiber segment from one unit without having to make adjustments on both ends. The FlexPoint offers several mounting options. It can be mounted stand-alone utilizing optional wall-mounting hardware. It can also be rack-mounted using a 5-unit rack-mounting shelf or in the 14-unit FlexPoint Powered Chassis which is available with redundant 110/220V AC or 48V DC power supplies.
Omnitron FlexPoint Gx - Transceiver - 1000Base-SX, 1000Base-T - rack-mountable - The FlexPoint Gx converter is an IEEE 802.3ab compliant Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-T unshielded twisted pair (UTP) to 1000Base-Sx or 1000Base-Lx fiber converter. It is a member of the modular FlexPoint product line that provides a wide range of connectivity options across different network and media types. The FlexPoint Gx features Auto-Negotiation, which allows auto-adapting to the full/half duplex and flow control services supported by the device connected to its UTP port. User-selectable override options are provided to set to the desired mode. The FlexPoint Gx operates in full-duplex providing an effective two-Gigabit data rate or in half-duplex at one Gigabit. This feature maximizes the throughput when connecting to high bandwidth full-duplex devices such as servers or switches.
Transition Fast Ethernet Bridging Media Converter - Transceiver - 10Base-T, 100B Transition Networks' bridging media converters provide conversion and integration solutions for half-duplex and full-duplex environments. Only Transition Networks guarantees compatibility with any 10/100 compliant port. This feature allows you to force the proper port configuration through an external switch on the converter - unlike competitive products that ship in auto-negotiation mode and may require both hardware and software configuration.
Transition Ethernet Media Converter - Transceiver - 100Base-FX, 100Base-TX - RJ- Transition Networks' 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX Media Converter is available in both stand-alone and slide-in-module form factors; making cost-effective integration of twisted pair and fiber optics in Fast Ethernet networks easier than ever before. The Media Converter operates under heavy traffic loads without excess heat so there is no need for a failure-prone internal fan. It automatically detects and reports loss of link on a connection using Link Pass Through. This feature allows the equipment at the remote end of a link failure to "see" this failure and respond with corrective actions, such as Spanning Tree fail-over links, proprietary trunking links, or failure reports through SNMP or RMON procedures built into the switch, router or hub. The Media Converter also automatically detects faults in a link using Far End Fault. This feature of the Fast Ethernet Fiber standard allows you to troubleshoot a fault, even if it is only in one direction; alerting the device on the same side as the failure. The converter will automatically re-establish link when connected to two 10/100 auto-negotiating switches if link is lost. With other manufacturers' converters the user must intervene to re-establish link. Pause is a component of Auto-negotiation and because auto-negotiation is not supported over a fiber link, switches cannot utilize this flow control feature without Transition Networks' converters. Enabling the Pause feature on the converters between two switches allows users to take advantage of this flow control feature on their equipment.
